Ahh the dilemma. Disposables or cloth? What to do what to do…
Cloth diapers. I wish I had the guts to try these.  Before Little G, I did want to cloth diaper. These are best for the environment and pocket book. Not to mention they can be totally cute. After we had him though, now I have a fear of poop. I had no idea how much a little one poops or the fact that it could leak out EVERY time. It is a rare day when I pick up Little G from the daycare and he is in the same clothes! (Today was one of those days…we’ll see about Thursday) Aside from my fear of cloth diapering, I think D would literally have a cow if I decided to go this route. He thinks that I would do all the diapers on this plan…ha ha…not!. Bummer for me though.
Then, I thought I had found the perfect solution. G diapers! Or not. They would have been more expensive than traditional disposables. I would love to do better for the environment, I really would, but the average cost of diapers will add up to $3000, these would be even more. So those are out! Now though, these would be truly frightening with what I have seen come out of my little guy.
So that leaves…Disposables. I have tried soo many of them. We were lucky enough to get many many diapers as gifts. Seventh Generation are FANTASTIC! We tested them against the toughest thing we could find…sick poo. They held 90% of it in. Woo hoo. And, they are good for the environment, well better than traditional disposables. More on disposables later…
What do you think? What works for you?

I get my 7th gen off amazon.com through the subscription so they are 1/2 the price that I see in stores around here, I should see if I can use coupons too

Girl! I haven't found a disposable that we don't get blow outs in! We use BumGenius 3.0 onsize diapers and never have blowouts. As for the poop fear, you can get flushable liners from cottonbabies.com, and all together (since the dipes fot from 8-30 pounds) that comes out less than a year of disposable. However, it's a big up front cost. But, I did notice that cottonbabies is now selling gently used diapers (used for less than 3 weeks).

Anyway, food for thought. I hope you find SOMETHING that works for you. But, I don't know that day care would be on board with it. (even though they are super easy and really no different that the disposables:-( )

Thanks for the info. I think at some point I will try cloth diapering. I work from home 2 days a week so it could really help us. I saw the BumGenius ones online and they looked cool. Also I looked at the Flip diapers. I wish there was some place I could see them in person. I am going to check out that website too!

A lot of companies have a "test drive" program. Here's one example. I know there are different ones, but I just can't think of any right now.

we also use 7th generation and love them, I use tri-folds and covers for cloth diapering when I have done that, I have done about 1/2 and 1/2 cloth and disposable depending on the craziness of life.

They are amazing. Also if you go directly to their website, they always have coupons you can print out!
