Our kitchen sink area was quite cluttered. We had a shelf over the sink which helped gave us a place for my plant. We really didn’t have anywhere else to put it, so the shelf was great. Unfortunately we didn’t see the clutter that this shelf helped to create.

(try to ignore the Larry doll… this was from an old photo that I cropped, a yoyo was also involved)

While I was cleaning our counter, I moved the shelf out and realized how nice it was without it. But we still needed a place for my plant.

Off to Home Depot I went…

For $12 I found decorative shelf brackets. I lifted the shelf up to the level of the window, removed the curtain and got rid of 1 teapot (the other plant has already died).

What do you think of the results?

Tada!

This really opens up the sink area,  and brightens the room. (And if you were wondering, that’s my super cute and awesome Boon Grass drying rack!)

A little perspective can change so much. I had been unhappy with this area for so long it didn’t phase me anymore. Just pulling out the shelf to clean opened my eyes.

I challenge you to look around the room you are most unhappy with. Is there a small change that you could make, that would make a big impact?

Isn't it amazing what a difference a simple change can make!

I used to tell my young'uns (thankfully Hubby doesn't do this!) that if I have to come and get it from right where I'm telling you that it is… You'll owe me a quarter. When they got older, I turned it into "You'll have to do a chore for me." It's amazing what they could then automatically now find! I jumped over from New Friend Friday and am so happy that I did! I have become your newest follower and would be honored if you choose to do the same! until later…
