My good friend Aimee is having a baby!! And so, we must all get together and throw her an awesome baby shower. It was tough finding ideas on the internet, so I’m posting this up here for anyone that needs some help.

We decided to have the baby shower at a restaurant. The timing was so close to Christmas that we wouldn’t have enough time to be fantastic. So, we cut corners wherever we could.

Aimee has a love of frogs and her nursery is going to be frog themed, so the shower theme was an obvious choice.

Location: Rain Forest Café

We added white table cloths and pale green napkins to try and tone done the craziness of the place. Also, we chose a back corner to hide ourselves away.

Invitation: This was pure awesomeness.

imageThis are our draft invitations, they were later refined.

Jewelry box + tissue lotus flowers and water + frog cutout +spring + lily pad invite = ADORABLE invitation. (paint can also be used for water)

We made the lily using the instructions found Bleu Arts scaled to 1/4 the size, but we didn’t use regular paper on the bottom.

Cupcakes: Beautiful lily pad cupcakes made by Betsy.

The idea for these beauties came from a flikr photo by seweccentric. I was glad Betsy could execute it, because I sure couldn’t.

Favor: Frog shaped sugar cookies in packages

The idea came from Jamy’s blog. But the recipe came from Jolly Mom’s Perfect Sugar Cookie recipe. The icing was first made by me (badly) and then fixed by Jen. And the packaging was Betsy’s idea.

The packaging is 1/2 sheet of cardstock creased at 2”, cellophane bag, 2 staples and a sticker on top.

Game Booklet: Made by Betsy

Due to the loudness of the restaurant the games were only in booklet form. Legal size paper, double sided, with a game in each column, then folded long ways. Don’t forget the frog background.

Centerpieces: Made by Chris

The centerpieces were glass vases with rocks in them, faux leaves, and tree frogs glued on. With random frogs sprinkled on the tables.

Just add excited hosts!
