Part of why I started this blog was to put out there all the reviews/advice I searched for and never found.

Finding the right fork was a problem for us.

Our little guy started self feeding at 12 months (thanks to daycare) and was doing well by 14 months. We had plenty of spoons. Dozens really. But we needed a good fork. We had 2 of the Take and Toss forks and they were ok, and a toy one we had to use sometimes. I didn’t love them, but they worked. I thought that I could just buy more of the Take and Toss, but you have to buy combo packs that come with MORE spoons.

I scoured the internet and the stores. I didn’t like any of my options. You basically have two choices.

  • Large fork head, small handle
  • Small head, long handle.

Nothing really fit. And some of them were pretty expensive for 2 utensils.

Behold! Ikea!

As crazy as this will sound, I found the perfect utensils. The Duktig Flatware are great. They are actually toy utensils, but tested safe for food. They are the perfect size and length for little hands and little mouths. And the price is nice too, $5.99 for 4 forks and 4 spoons (better sized than the baby feeding ones we had). The set also comes with 4 knives and 4 tiny spoons that we aren’t going to use.
