So dear friends, we have had our first bout with toddler puke. It was horrific to say the least.

Now, I must preface this by letting you know that D and I don’t throw up. I have only thrown up once since I was 11. Seriously. And D has only thrown up once the entire time I have known him. To say it was horrific really isn’t an exaggeration.

Poor Little G woke up screaming, and by the time we made it in there, he had already started. I was disgusted and felt so helpless at the same time. He was terrified, and the cries were awful. But he just had to finish. Then off to the tub we ran and stripped him down out of his dirty clothes.

By this point he was so scared and now shivering from being undressed.

D, the good man that he is, really tried to clean it up, but just couldn’t stomach it. Instead I gave him the duty of holding the scared little boy, and because he is like a heating pad himself, warm the boy up.

Where D went wrong was to try and clean it all up with paper towels. There is no way I could handle that. So, I grabbed up the blanket and the pillow, and shook them over the deck, and then right into the washer. Belch!.

By the time I got back Little G was calm and warm and soon went back to bed. Whew!

Not so much.

About a half our later, we hear. Cough, cough. Mommy! Happy? (transalation = what happened?) Happy? MOMMY!?

And we started it all over.

Thank goodness that was the end of it all. This plus his accident two days before meant that these were the last of his clean sheets and blankets.

I feel like I would like a badge of some sort for making it through this milestone. Although, I don’t think the Girl Scouts have one for that…

Oh no…poor little guy (and parents!) It's sure not fun when babies get sick. But you know what's really bad? It's when you 4 or 5 year old stands alongside your bed at 3am and wakes you up by saying, "Mommy….I don't…. feel…. good." and before your eyes are barely focussed, he throws up all over you. Oh yea, been there done that quite a few times!
