That’s the cut.

It’s rare that you will ever see me mention The Company on here. Very rare. But every once in a while there’s something I must say. This week the company announced they are going to make some cuts. Small ones and not related to my job. They decided to cut 10 people. Or rather, 10 jobs, not people. It’s just too bad that people did those jobs and it’s people that won’t have a paycheck anymore. These 10 jobs weren’t people under performing, they were just numbers, numbers that the company needed to cut. And so The Company gave them 2 weeks. Some of these people had been with the company for many years, since they were young. They were loyal to The Company, participated  in many extra curriculars and volunteering outside of their normal job… but still.

It’s sad that these weren’t people. They were just numbers and dollar signs.

I guess some day it might be a comfort knowing that if they cut me it’s only b/c of the numbers, not me personally. It’s sad and reminds me of how unstable my job truly is… even when it feels stable. This is the world we live in now.
