You’ll find tons of cute littler monster patches when you look up how to patch holey jeans. And when you look in Pinterest you’ll find dozens more of these cute little things. But all of them look like a big effort to me. More effort than I really wan to give. That’s a conundrum since I would really like to have a cute little monster poking out of Big Brother’s knee.
Instead of making eyes, teeth and/or little feet and sewing them on, I took a little shortcut. We still have a bunch of baby’s clothes in our basement that haven’t found a new home yet, so I went looking for something with eyes.
Here’s how you can make this little shortcut to a monster patch.

What you’ll need:
1 baby onesie or shirt of your choice with eyes (or eye in this case) on it.
Scissors
Needle
Coordinating thread
Holey jeans

1. Clean up the edges of the hole and make it the size you’d like to have with your scissors.
2. Cut out the eye, larger than you think you’ll need.
3. Placing the eye in the hole, sew around it.

4. Turning the pants inside, trim the excess fabric.
You could stop here and have an adorable patch.
The onsie I picked also had cute little feet that I thought would make great hands poking out.
I cut out the feet and then trimmed off the tops.

I stitched the hands down at the tops so they’re a little flappy.
I think it came out cute!

And Big Brother agrees!
